We’re pleased to share that IANGEL Board Member and doctoral candidate at UC Berkeley School of Law Mahwish Moazzam, has published an article in Just Security, addressing the horrific extrajudicial “honor” killings of Bano Bibi and Ihsan Ullah that took place in Balochistan, Pakistan this past July.

In her timely and insightful piece, “When Law Fails Women: Jirgas, Gender Violence, and the Collapse of International Accountability,” Moazzam explores how parallel justice systems in Pakistan perpetuate gender-based violence and how international law can be leveraged to demand accountability.
